Ubuntu Gold · About Us

The firm behind the name

Ubuntu — “I am because we are.” We took the philosophy as our name because it is also how we trade: through relationships, verified and kept.

§ 01 · Our Story

Born in Kampala, built on relationships

Ubuntu Gold Uganda is a Kampala-based firm working at the centre of the African precious-metals ecosystem — where miners, aggregators, refiners and international buyers meet, and where trust is either established or lost.

The firm exists because international buyers kept telling us the same thing: they did not need another seller. They needed a counterpart on the ground who treats verification as the product itself, not as an obstacle to a deal. So that is what we built — a practice where the assay, the paperwork and the screening come first, and the transaction follows.

We grew the way gold actually moves in East Africa: through relationships. Between miners who can name the origin of their material, refiners who work under supervision, and buyers who ask hard questions. Those relationships are the firm.

§ 02 · Vision & Mission

Where we are going, and how

Two sentences govern every decision the firm makes. We keep them short so they cannot be bent.

V · Vision

The trusted African gateway

To be the trusted African gateway for responsibly sourced gold — the counterpart international buyers name first when they need certainty on this continent.

M · Mission

Verified buyers, verified supply

To connect verified buyers with verified supply through documentation, diligence and enduring relationships — one transaction at a time, each one on the record.

§ 03 · Core Values

Six words we are held to

Values are only real when they cost something. Ours are written into how every engagement is run.

01

Integrity

We say what we will do, do it, and put it in writing — even when the honest answer costs us a transaction.

02

Transparency

Every weight, purity and provenance claim is backed by a record the buyer can inspect — nothing rests on our word alone.

03

Security

Custody is controlled, handling is documented, and client matters are discussed with no one who is not party to them.

04

Excellence

Assays witnessed, files complete, deadlines kept — the standard is the same whether the parcel is small or the stakes are high.

05

Authenticity

Material that cannot name its origin does not move through this firm. If provenance cannot be verified, we decline.

06

Partnership

We measure success in relationships that outlast the first transaction — with buyers, miners and refiners alike.

Stewardship, not celebrity
§ 04 · Leadership Philosophy

Stewardship over celebrity

You will not find personality on our letterhead. The firm is led the way a vault is kept: quietly, carefully, and with the long term in view.

Decisions here are made slowly on purpose. A transaction declined today protects a relationship intended to last decades — and decades is the horizon we work to. We would rather keep a counterparty for twenty years than win a quarter.

Every engagement is led by a senior adviser who is accountable end-to-end — from the first enquiry to the closing record. One name answers for the file, and that name does not change mid-transaction.

§ 05 · Where We Work

Lubowa on the map, the world on the line

The firm is based in Lubowa, Wakiso District — a short drive from central Kampala and close to the field sites, refiners and institutions we work with daily.

International buyers work with us in whichever way suits the transaction: remotely, through documented reporting and witnessed video verification, or in person, alongside our advisers at the bench and at the table. Either way, the record is the same.

If you are travelling to Uganda, we would be glad to receive you at the office. Visits are by appointment — write or call ahead, and an adviser will prepare for your file before you arrive.
